In other words, literally every policy pushed by Democrats for the past 70 years has lead to the destruction of American society

Thank God we had Republicans to get us into endless wars and deregulate banking to destroy the economy!

Our leaders sold us out. We went from being producers to consumers, and that was our downfall. Once the steel mills left, coal mines closed, and factories went down south, then over seas, it was a done deal. Now you can't even get a customer service job, because they're over seas, too. Now here comes AI. It's over with.

This comment pretty much sums it all out. That's what happened to areas in California like Compton. There were good paying jobs at factories that people could raise a family on. When all the factories in that area dried up and went over seas that changed the family dynamics. People turned to selling drugs, which created addicts, then crack came around (with the help of the CIA who was helping fund the Contras).

I bet if someone really sat down and did a full analysis it would show the US government has done more harm to its people than to help.

The problem is also that housing has become unaffordable for many. When you rent you care less about your house, your community, where your kids grow up/go to school, etc.

Thanks for the rec

PBS has changed drastically in the last decade.

I used to enjoy PBS Newshour with Jim Lehrer for many, many years. It was mostly objective reporting. That era is gone.

Sad.

So true, they were one of the last objective news media to fall, but the conversion was almost overnight after 2020. Every once in awhile I try again, but it's just NPR clown world in TV form now.
