Amazon Delivery Station opening in Slidell

It will help serve the north shore and New Orleans. It will be similar in size to the Amazon DC that was opened last year in Baton Rouge off Siegen Lane.
These last mile centers are key in improving Amazon's "same day" service in the area. They are served through massive fulfillment centers like the one being built at Cortana (Baton Rouge).
Expect a few more of these smaller Amazon Delivery Stations to open in the state - including ones in Lafayette, Shreveport, Lake Charles, and possibly in the Hammond/Livingston area.

One of the toughest secrets for Slidell Mayor Greg Cromer to keep is out. In fact, it’s a secret he kept for 15 months.
Amazon will break ground on a delivery station in the city within the next few weeks. The facility is expected to create hundreds of new jobs.
“We’re just excited to have the opportunity to have Amazon as a new member of our community,” Cromer said.
The center will be 140,000 square feet. It’s the last stop before final delivery to customers. Amazon is pledging the center will speed up delivery times around the greater St. Tammany Parish area.
“St. Tammany Parish is a good place to do business,” Cromer said. “There are opportunities here along this I-10, I-12, I-59 corridor that can compete with any place in the country as far as reaching out to a broad number of citizens and businesses in the region.”

The one in Slidell is planned to be ~180,000 sq. feet.
That's roughly the size of a normally-sized Walmart SuperCenter.

It is amazing how fast their delivery service grew. There are more Amazon trucks in !y neighborhood than UPS trucks.

Fed Ex and UPS are going to be hurting, the game has changed for sure
As far as the USPS, they ought to start dismantling that thing now

Delivery station you mean? Probably at least 100 or so.
The big fulfillment centers are more rare.

These have become “eh....so what” news releases. Might as well post every time a new gas station or car wash is built. Everybody has a distribution center in the works or just built.

Last I heard, they haven't chosen a GC for this project yet. I drove by the site a couple of weeks ago, and they haven't started grubbing yet.
