Still Curious:

Did mom leave you the money in a will or were you just cosigner on the checking account?

That's one of the weirdest things I think I've read here and that's saying a lot.

The idea of dividing up someone's ashes is strange enough but to put them in paperweights. fricking strange.

Besides... who the frick uses paperweights these days?

You are completely in the right here. It's your mother and her money. I hope if I have children they are as caring and thoughtful as you are

She could put the ashes in a glass dildo or butt plug

If she said she did this, I wouldn't be shocked.

Your husband sounds like a trashy derrick lick. If he had his shite together he should encourage you to help your family that is in need and save the rest of the money for future generations. Instead you go out and bought him a truck and guns for christ sake.

At least they might get use out of that. It's like she thought "now that I've finished splitting up mom's ashes what is the most useless way I could distribute them?"

Should have just given everybody their ashes in a ziploc bag.

I like the idea of those pods you can put the ashes in to grow a tree with.

Better than a paper weight

I have seen some strange posts on this site, but I think this might be the strangest and most disturbing. What could possibly possess someone to think this is a subject to bring to the OT? And her poor husband.

However, call me old fashioned but if it is an inheritance, then it is both yours and your husband's money, so he should have some

It was her mother. Her money.

When my wife's father died and she got a chunk of cash (not a huge amount but nothing to laugh at either), I didn't expect anything.

She took us on a very nice vacation and out the rest in her retirement acct.

Oh come on. Please admit this is a troll.

quote:

My husband is upset that I have spent thousands (about 25k in 2 months) on moms care (before she died) gifts for my moms kids

So your mom has other heirs.

quote:

Mom left the money in an acct with her name and mine on it so it is mine to do with as i please.

Nice. Why did she do that? If I were your siblings, I'd look for a will, and I'd investigate you for possible elder abuse, unjust enrichment, etc.

quote:

My husband feels the money should go to me (and him) too buy things he wants. I say it is mine and i will spend it as I damn well please.

So you're a c-u-nt, and he's a douchebag. You sound like a lovely pair with no morals whatsoever. Is stealing a recent thing for the both of you, or do you have a long history of it?

Didn't she say her mom died of Alzheimers?

GK: "Hey mom, I know you don't recognize me, or know who or where you are, but take this pen and sign your name right by this X. Here, let me help you...."

Yeesh

I recommend you hire an attorney. Because as soon as your siblings get a grasp of succession laws, you're going to need one

Yep. Any sibling could bring that shite to court and demand their share.
