Apparently a metric shite ton of people are coming to KY to view it. They are excited because it will bring extra millions of dollars into some of the local economies.
One town was expecting an extra $3 million.
So far I've seen no difference in the traffic

Its not even a total eclipse for most of the country/world. I'm gonna get barely a 3/4 eclipse and I'm not happy about it

Why don't you ride up here with Aspy and watch it with us?

Here's a pic of the whole thing for you.

They are keeping kids inside during school for the eclipse. I imagine it's out of fear of lawsuits of kids claiming their eyes are burnt from looking at it.
I think we're one of the only districts in Kentucky that decided to have school that day and it's already been a clusterfrick.
First, you have parents throwing a fit because they've already made plans to drive to Hopkinsville so the district had to accommodate them by creating a form to excuse their absence.
Then they told the schools they had to purchase glasses en masse two weeks ago and that the kids couldn't bring their own in. So some schools on super tight budgets couldn't afford it and others that could ordered the recalled ones on Amazon. Naturally people are upset that their school won't be participating while others are and threatening to sue for discrimination.
Lastly, you have parents who are already threatening lawsuits if their kid isn't "individually supervised" to go out at watch it. Luckily, I'm in a high school so they have a little more sense and understanding. I can't imagine working in an elementary with that responsibility.
I was looking forward to it but I'm now officially way the frick over it. It's a walking lawsuit. They should've just dismissed early and let the parents supervise their own little shits.

Solar eclipses are caused by the anti-moon (previously known as the "shadow object") blocking the sun. Very easy to calculate.
Harder to calculate when planet Nibiru will collide with the earth disk.

Am I the only person who doesn't care about the eclipse?
So you're "that guy"?

Yes but not from the eclipse. They obviously did something to upset their Gods and were sacrificed soon after.

Aren't we supposed to beat on pots and pans to scare the dragon away from eating the sun?
This is some ancient Chinese voodoo that has fixed the problem 100% of the time.
Personally, I've pulled out the Magnalite and am taking no chances.

NASA is flying a Gulfstream 3 jet specially outfitted with several unique cameras that can potentially see the stars as well as the corona of the sun. The eclipse will move faster than the jet can fly, so the plan is the fly ahead of the eclipse on the path line, let the eclipse catch up to the jet and then film away until the eclipse passes the jet. They estimate instead of a few minutes they'll be able to be in the total eclipse several hours before it completely passes them. Speed across the U.S. at 20,000 foot elevation is estimated at around 586 MPH. The Citation can go faster, but due to air traffic patterns, FAA is keeping them under that speed.

If I remember correctly there was a solar eclipse in the early 80s and I was in elementary school. There was no way the near the hysteria of burning your eyeballs out of your head like there is today.
