I run a humidifier and a dehumidifier together 24/7 - so my humidity is always in balance.

They work great in our home. If I don't run it when we have the heat on (especially when it can get decently cold here), it makes my sinuses bleed from the dry air.

You need a psychrometric chart. You can only mechanically remove so much humidity. You may need a chemical based solution to your problem. But some slapdick guy with an hvac truck who does lennar installs isn’t going to know the physics of your problem.

A modern hvac system with a variable speed blower and built in humidifier you can set your thermostat on what temp &% humidity you want.
