A few years ago I found out 110 in BR is also racist. Elevated highways seem to be more racist than surface level highways. I guess it’s the way they were raised.

All punny-ness aside, it's funny how the overpass area along Perkins in Baton Rouge thrives while others seem to be be a source of blight.

I have no doubt that 1960's era NOLA road planners were more likely to choose black neighborhoods for projects requiring imminent domain. It was the sad state of affairs back then, but tearing down that road now makes little sense.

Use federal funds to fix the poor drainage system, and hell start in historic black neighborhoods as a sign of goodwill.

I have a hard time with arguments against gentrification they always seem to ignore progress. No one likes blight in once prominent neighborhoods, but you never hear about urban decline being met with the same level of vitriol.

I know where plenty of basements are and at least two in ground cemeteries.

I know what you're saying but a tunnel below sea level isn't a big deal.

Nola's real issue is its built on clay.

Eventually, that structure would have to be replaced given that it's beyond its useful lifespan.

They say it hurt the area. Ok year it down. Then it takes an hour and a glad
Half to get between Algiers and the east instead off 40 minutes.

Then that entire area would be gentrified.

Extend I-510 through Chalmette to the Westbank and then CCC. Boom port problem solved.

The original plan was to have I-310 and I-510 create a southern loop around New Orleans and connect somewhere on the west bank. When you look at the map you can see the plan was there.

Of course, but removing that artery completely instead of replacing the existing structure is nonsense as well.

Do they not understand that a massive increase in surface level traffic and travel times will only encourage the gentrification of the whole corridor?

In 20 years, will the whole neighborhood be racist?

Lafitte/Larose highway was supposed to intersect that as well providing a faster connection south.

The capacity would be replaced via Pontchatrain Expwy and what is 610 now.

The southern loop was ruled out due to lack of need. No one was going to use it.
