I assume it's all about what you're use to. We grew up swimming in a canal that usually had a gator or 2. My wife would lose her shite at first but I let my kids swim in it as well, just kept an eye out.

Any time one got too comfortable we would toss leftover bricks at it from the boathouse or pop it in the head with a pellet gun.

That is not how you handle that. You shoot it in the head with a .22 and then drag a mile down river.

There is a very big difference between alligators in florida vs alligators in louisiana.
