Am I in the wrong?

I had to go to the DMV and I sat in the middle chair where there was 5 empty chair to the left of me and 5 empty chairs to the right of me. This lady and her son came in and sat to the right of me where there was an empty chair between us. The lady’s mom came in a few minutes later and sat right next to me to sit with her daughter and grandson. She then asks me if I could get up and move so she could have some space.
I am already annoyed and aggravated by that I have to go to the DMV and was already asked by a guy if I could go to my car and charge his phone up because it was dead and his insurance card was on his phone. I didn’t pay any mind to the guy and I just told the lady that I was already here for 35 minutes and that I wasn’t moving. She wasn’t too happy but I wasn’t happy either and the shite those two people asked me I was just dumbfounded.
I could never ask somebody to move who was already sitting down while I sit right next to that person and I would never ask somebody to go to their car while they are in line at the DMV and ask them to charge my phone. I felt like Jim Carrey on Me Myself and Irene when he snapped in the store.

did she have enough room to just pick another seat?

I would have moved over on my own accord. Seems simple enough.

I understand wanting to not sit right next to someone, however that was rude of her to ask that. And the guy asking you to charge his phone is a pretty big favor to ask a stranger.

Would it have killed you to just move over one seat?

Your first mistake was sitting in the middle chair.
I’m not a fan of ppl so I’d have sat somewhere less inviting for others to sit near me.

considering the OP - yes it would have. it wasn't principle for them - it was life and death

The tone that she used when she asked me to get up and move, that put me in freak the world mode lol

Why did you sit dead center? Makes it tough for others to choose which side.

You aren't in the wrong at all there's an empty seat next to her fat butt mama

Take the end seat like a normal person and it wouldnt be an issue.

There was an empty seat next to the grandson where she could have sat down at where all three of them would still be together.

Stupid request but maybe, just maybe, you were the dickhead who intentionally acted like an arse out of principal.

Exactly my question. If I see an entire row of 11 empty seats, I'm sitting at an end so that I'm guaranteed to not have someone sitting on at least one side of me.

You should have started making noises like you were a deaf mute

Yes, everything can be done online or at a remote location.
There is hardly any reason why you should have to go to the DMV these days
