Am I alone in loathing the wind-up at the end of customer service calls?

Maybe I’m the a-hole, but when the problem is resolved, after all the bullshite, I just want to go. There is never “anything more” I want them to do, and I don’t need them to thank me for the privilege of having to help me. When I try to just thank them so much for helping and say goodbye, they just keep talking.

That’s when you simply hang up

They don’t know that there is nothing else they can help you with, that’s why they ask. A-hole.

Don’t forget to take the short survey after the call

No, and I'm also irritated with the reverse situation where a secretary will pick up the phone and recite like 15 seconds of script before you can even speak. "Good morning this is [x] with [x] where we [slogan] how may be of some assistance for you today".
Or even worse is automated answering machines that tell you the damn hours and address before getting to the menu options. Are THAT many old people really calling places simply to get the address?

That’s why I answer the phones here and only say “Burger King.”

The last good customer service experience I received over the phone was with XBox Live. They were very simple. "What can I help you with?" They cut to the chase with no annoying pleasantries.
I guess XBox realized that their customer base is probably 90% ADHD and need to cut to the chase ASAP.

Wait! You mean you don't hang on to answer the short customer service survey at the end?

It's the overbearing pleasantries that take 5 minutes to start the call and 5 minutes to end the call that are so annoying.

They are fine if you hang up. They are required to say predetermined retoric at the end.
Last thing they want is an a-hole calling their boss saying they were rude.
