Just the other day I ordered steamed lobsters at the seafood counter from a black clerk. She said it would be about 20 minutes until the order would be ready. I came back at the appointed time and there were about 5 or 6 black people at the counter waiting their turn. There was one white guy at the counter and the clerk was handing my order of lobsters to him. When I said, "I think those are mine", she laughed and said, "Y'all all kinda look alike".
That brought a round of chuckles from all the other patrons.

My policy has always been that if you don't know the person very well then it is best to be quiet. When I was younger I joked around with some coworkers and it did not end well. You can have good intentions and be playful and some people will lose their shite over something completely innocent. Always be cautious .

No it's not. How could it be when there is no show of hate for the black race?

I had a black roommate my freshman year. So I asked him if all white people looked alike.

He said, "frick no!"

pretty weird, spend a lot of time with someone else who is pretty relaxed and you can joke about just about anything and this was in 1979

I do, and give zero fricks about it, regardless of race or sex. Sorry if your opinion of yourself is higher than my eyes see.

The only people that get offended at that kind of stuff are weak minded fools.

However, there are a shite ton of those in today's world.

I was at work one time and I hear the guy next to me tell a guy 'yeah you look just like the black power ranger'. If I had been drinking anything I would've done a spit take. I never watched the power rangers so I didn't know there was a black ranger who was actually a black guy but I'm sitting there thinking "there is one guy on the planet who won't be offended by this".

Luckily it actually was the guy who played the black power ranger.

Depends on the specificity. If you say, "that guy looks like so-and-so on my favorite television show.", then you're probable fine. If you literally say "black people look like other black people" the way it's written in the thread title, you're probably gonna have a bad day
