Alternatives to cloth seats on dining room chairs

So I got a great dining room set from my grandmother after she died, good quality wood but the seats/cushions are worn and need to be replaced.
I have 2 boys under 3 and my wife wants to get a new table set because obviously cloth seats won’t hold up to 2 little boys very long. Everything is in storage right now until our house is done being built.
Are there any alternatives you can think of to replace the seats?

Either get the chair cushions recovered with a more durable upholstery fabric, or replace the chairs.
No need to get a new set.
No need to get a new set.

Get on YouTube and look at recovering. It’s pretty easy. Then go to the fabric store and pick out your new fabric.

Hope it is in climate control. A lot of wood furniture from the early 1900's will NOT stand moisture.

You can get any type material seat, and if you are worried about protecting it, just wrap the seat cushion in a thin clear vinyl sheet.

Are you working or at home drinking?

Many vinyls look like regular fabrics, look for Crypton fabrics. Stain resistant.
