I was just at Excellence Playa Mujeres in June for my honeymoon and was blown away. My wife and I had an awesome time and really enjoyed the resort. Drinks were great, food was great, and hospitality was unmatched.
We did the excellence club and I think it was worth it just for the private beach area. There is a separate beach spot for excellence club with better, more comfortable seating and several workers taking care of anything you need. If Luis is the waiter at the beach, you'll never have an empty glass.

Hurricane season. Would highly suggest getting trip insurance for any place you choose.

Awesome. thanks for the review. Did you have your transportation to the airport reserved ahead of time or did you just find a taxi at the airport?

I set up transportation through USA transfers. It was very reasonably priced and was private transport for the me and the wife. Just make the reservation then pay in cash when you get there. Pretty easy.

Yea i wanna pay to go on a vacation and live like I am third world.
Brah, you know there are countries in the world that aren't 3rd world, right?
ETA: IMO, a vacation is more than a pretty beach. If I'm visiting another country I'd like to experience their culture, and to me food is a large part of culture.

Thats fine but many people like myself enjoy the relaxation a beach provides and I enjoy the excursions. I got to enjoy plenty of local food last time I went to an all inclusive. They had people serving drum drip chicken everywhere in montego bay on the side of the road. Just because you go to an all inclusive doesn't mean you can't enjoy the outside world.
Also most amazing affordable beaches are in third world countries. So for many it makes sense to go all inclusive.
It gets old as frick that every time this topic is brought up, the stuck up assholes get on here preaching about how boring people who like all inclusives are or how we don't have culture. We understand y'all are better then us, no need to come on here and brag about your culture.

Excellence
Did excellence in Playa Mujures(sp?)
Was awesome. I sprung for the Rooftop terrace with private pool on top. Would not do that again simply because we hardly used it. Overall it was awesome though. Would trip there again in a heartbeat.
Seriously at least give it a look on trip advisor. Has amazing reviews and tons of user photos and such. Also a GREAT value. Rooftop terrace, weeklong trip, private ride to and from airport, and plane tickets was between 3-4 grand.

Antigua sandals is where we ended up.. Food: breakfast was great with mimosas to kick off the day.. We ate pizza for lunch everyday it was great they have a brick oven and hand make personal size pizza to order. Dinner was not very good we ate a different restaurant every night I didn't care for any except for the beach side grill wich had lobster tail and tuna steaks one night they were good.. Snorkeling was included and very nice excursions were expensive: sunset cruse was worth it very nice and rum punch was on time.. Fishing was treriable do not go fishing, full day swimming with the Rays was cool too lunch that day was a picnic on a private lagoon it was pretty cool.. Best parts was views and the crystal clear Aqua blue waters, and the pool bar worst parts were the chirping of the bugs at night and customs on the way back

To OP, I would go to Ambergris Caye, Belize before it becomes commercialized. Pretty affordable and tons of restaurants so you can avoid all-inclusive restrictions.
