California #1…… lol. That’s a great and accurate list.

North Dakota is at the bottom of Abbamonte's list because he feels that it's the least accessible state, in part because of a lack of direct flights to major cities in other states
Lack of flights helps keep city assholes out

That was also the main negative for why he ranked WV #38.
"It's only regional airports, so you have to connect in cities like DC, Philadelphia, Chicago — wherever it might be — to get in and out," Abbamonte said. "It's not the most accessible place."

I mean, it’s a legit concern if you’re traveling there. I see your point but also consider how annoying it can be if you have to get to north Dakota quickly

If you want to get people riled up make a list of anything with more than 1 entry and you will accomplish your goal.
It is a single persons opinion and primarily as a visitor. Just to visit I really like all 10 of his top 10. California really is a great place to visit even if you would never want to live there. It really does have something for most everyone. Mountains, coastline, food, shopping, sports, etc. I prefer Hawaii but I agree it is a PITA to get to compared to the rest pf CONUS, especially if you live on the east coast.

Not a bad list, agreed on states like Arkansas, Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Oklahoma being at the bottom.

You're a dork like he is
quote:
Abbamonte admitted that while he's been to Arkansas' capital, Little Rock, he hasn't yet explored parts of the state that people rave about, including Northwest Arkansas and the Ozark Mountains.

His least favorite aspect of Nebraska is how unvaried and flat its topography is.

These "lists" always have criteria some urban soy accumulates.

I admittedly haven't been to NEB in my life, but yeah. Someone saying a state is 'flat' is just a rumor thing based on the mind's eye.

Not that I'm disagreeing with you.....but pulling a graphic that shows the elevation of one single spot in a state doesn't exactly disprove the blogger's claim.

But, I was referring to HMs post which included

Scottsbluff area is pretty scenic.

I'm aware of what you're referring to.
My comment is still relevant. You can have one small area with high elevation and still be considered a "flat state". HM's post listing the different topographical areas does a much better job at describing the state's general elevation and topography.

Odd anecdote but I remember 20 year old me thinking it would be cool to be on the highest point of states as I grew up. Dad kind of planted that. I've managed... 1

What's your point? There's a small section in the northwest part of the state that has nice scenery? (Overrated btw) The rest of the state blows.
