You can't physically cure addiction.

You're incapable of understanding the difference between using and addiction.

Addicts don't use to get high. They use to stop being sick.

Almost unquestionably.

Wow. Smoking is a disease too? I’m gonna have to break some news to a lot of people at work. Most diseases have a day of awareness. Do you know when the Menthol Day is so we can prepare?

So is addiction the desire? So you are admitting addiction is just a disorder than we waive responsibility from the person for giving into that desire?

Now that is the truth. And it's a shitty thing I hate about the business. Rehabs are for profit a lot of the time unfortunately. It is what it is, but I hate it. The disconnect between corporate and the counselors and medical staff on the ground is real.

Norm Macdonald talks about the “disease”. Maybe that’ll lighten the mood here.

Addiction is the physical changes to your brain. Neural pathways, etc.

Youre retarded.

You don't have the ability to comprehend 1/10th of what you've been given.

I don’t think it’s as black and white as most people try to make it seem. I believe certain people are genetically predisposed to becoming addicts. And it starts off as a choice, up until it becomes a physical addiction, where when you stop, you become physically sick. Then, it rears it’s ugly head as a disease. My Dad was an alcoholic and died of cirrhosis. I know I’m predisposed to it, so I do my best to keep my shite in check so I don’t let history repeat itself. It’s an ongoing battle.

Correct.

In addiction, you use to treat symptoms of addiction. It's just self medication.

If I locked you in a room for 7 days you wouldn’t be able to drink. You would lose all the side effects except desire. At that point, unless you are telling me desire is a disease, you no longer have symptoms and side effects and don’t have a disease....at that point you’re just a pos

You have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. It takes years, sometimes decades to become normal if you ever do.

He started off making bad choices, that progressed into a physical addiction. Where if he didn’t continue drinking would become sick. People take medicine for all types of diseases to help cure/relieve the symptoms. The medicine he chose to take ended up killing him. I’m not saying the choices he made in the beginning were good or smart, I’m saying that after a certain point, he couldn’t just choose to stop on his own.

Well open a treatment center then, 'cause the problem is growing daily. I guess you'll be the 1st guy in the world to try that plan. Let me know how it goes.

It's quibbling, but I didn't say smoking was a disease. I said nicotine addiction is almost unquestionably a disease.

I stand by it.
