Stay away from Las Cruces. Near El Paso and all that border crime.

ABQ is divided into four quadrants; 3 out ot 4 are crime ridden. I worked there quite a bit and it’s a dump.

For comparisons:

The 2022 crime rate in Albuquerque, NM is 641 (City-Data.com crime index), which is 2.6 times greater than the U.S. average. It was higher than in 98.5% U.S. cities. The 2022 Albuquerque crime rate fell by 1% compared to 2021 Read more: LINK

The 2022 crime rate in Baton Rouge, LA is 615 (City-Data.com crime index), which is 2.5 times greater than the U.S. average. It was higher than in 98.3% U.S. cities. The 2022 Baton Rouge crime rate fell by 2% compared to 2021 Read more: LINK

I agree. I worked there for a year and a half spending three or four weeks there at a time. If I had to move to ABQ, I guess I would look at the Rio Rancho area, if going farther north towards Santa Fe isn't an option.

Obviously it looks exactly like Breaking Bad, so if you don't like dust, sand, and pea gravel everywhere you may look someplace else. Lol

Hard to get to, limited healthcare, winter weather bad. Possibly the lesbian capital of the world.

My in-laws moved there, not a great place for older people.

Unless you piss off the cartel, crime is not really an issue
