This fetishization of treating people as “children” well into their 20s is a pretty new phenomenon.

for alot of students who live in broken homes, their teacher may be the only functional adult they know.

Teachers are also often told about difficult and challenging circumstances for these kids. You know who has a broken home, who is struggling, who was a victim of parental abuse, who has been bullied, who is vulnerable.

That's why no matter the age gap (early 20s with a late teens), it's always nefarious. Teachers are in positions of influence and power over kids, and the types of kids to engage in those kinds of relationships are often the ones who are the most vulnerable.

Imagine being the husband after the same thing happened yet again.

Decent looking guy, he's in shape, has a stable job and has had a successful coaching career in basketball. If it happened before, he should have been gone the first time. These kinds of people don't change.
