Admittedly have no sympathy for people who do dumb shite like this. If that makes me a POS then so be it.

Really sucks because the guy obviously didn't really understand what he was doing, but the cop was definitely in the right. One of the reasons I probably will never own a gun is because I like to get good and drunk every once in a while. Alcohol and guns should never mix.

Sad situation that could have been avoided if the guy had just followed the cop's instructions. Instead he chose to go out in a blaze of glory like an idiot. I don't see where the cop had any other option than to put him down. Hate that the woman (mother/wife/sister?) had to see all that go down.

"Can you hear me buddy? Listen buddy stay with me we got help coming."

That was pretty crazy to listen to. Pretty amazing that someone can pull a gun on a guy and him still be kind enough to talk to them like that. On the other hand, dude, you just blew this guy to hell man...if you gave even half a shite about the guy living...why shoot him so many times?

I know that's not fair. Guy seems like a great cop and really good guy from what we can see. He did nothing wrong.

Nada. I thought it was his girlfriend but if it is the mother I have even less sympathy. She raised a son who is a grown man who apparently still lives with her and he goes out, drives drunk, attempts to elude the police, tries to duck into his house before getting arrested, resists arrest, pulls a gun, and gets shot. She bears some responsibility in this sequence of events.

Watch the video again. He stops shooting at the exact point that the suspect falls. It took 9 or 10 shots to drop the guy. A lot of people fail to understand that sometimes it takes more than 1 or 2 shots to drop someone... especially if they are under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.

You think children from good homes don't turn into frickups?

Dude, it's not like the things you listed add up to some capital punishment(minus the gun). Was it a high speed chase? Seems like the guy just got REALLY drunk and drove home/to his mom's house. Horrible idea, but in the grand scheme of things, it's not THAT bad. It was admittedly a shite show once he got there. Though, it looked like he didn't even know that, "the man trying to fight him" was a cop. He was THAT drunk. If you don't feel bad for him and that woman, then you're just a dick.

Yeah, people need to know that one bullet isn't going to always drop a suspect. You can be shot multiple times and still get a shot off.

Dammit, this is going to make it seem like I'm questioning the guy's job capability and morals....which I'm not.

I think the not dropping was a product of how fast he was getting shot. If the cop stops at 4, and chills for a second, the guy probably still goes down

It looked to me that the gun was over by the truck, meaning he dropped the gun after the first shot or so. I'll look again.

If I'm standing 10 feet away from a guy with a gun I'm not stopping until he's down. Chilling for a second isn't listed in my self-defense guidelines.

I never said anything about good homes or bad homes. There are plenty of shitty parents in "good" homes. You can be poor and live in a shitty house and be a great parent. The opposite is also true.

Exactly. In a situation like that it would be a huge mistake to shoot him one and then stop and wait and see what happens. When it comes to the point you're having to fire one someone, you've got to keep hitting them until they go down.

Plus, this cop was firing a semi-auto pistol. It was probably a 9mm or .40 cal. And if I had to guess he was probably firing a standard FMJ round. These calibers and types of rounds usually won't put someone down on the first or even the first couple shots to the torso. It takes multiple shots oftentimes. This is one of the main reasons I switched to a Bulldog .44 special with hollow points for my personal carry. It's a trade off of fewer shots, but having a higher chance of stopping them with fewer shots.

I meant homes as in families with good parents, not the square footage and build.

I know I know, and I agree. The cop did a superb job IMO.
