benefits of night crew I guess. Minimal SNCO's and zero officers!
It's still like that for the most part.

I can't remember what the final thing was that MAG put a stop to it. I wanna say it was when 469 first stood up, and in the old 775 hanger, flight line took the shop that had the overhead crane in it. They duct taped a nug to a roll chair and hooked him up to the hoist. Crazy thing I'm pretty sure my cnatt instructors we're the ones who went down for that.

Loved working nights. Except for when I would meet the day crew early show at 0630.
And mid-rats were the best.

This! Yep hated being there swapping hands, but mid rats were awesome. I remember in Iraq in AQ, mid rats were the shite. Only time we (flight liners) got to go. Of course we'd make food runs to eribertos state side.

Nights were absolutely skate at the MALS. Only 3 or 4 work centers working and everyone wore civies.

Only time the chow was actually good.

Speaking of MALS, my boss on recruiting was originally a MALS 39 T700 mech/test cell. (sry already forgot all the MAL's shop #'s.
Still remember wuc codes though
Ah-1w engine monopod was 29H1F10 - used it on Mafs for my Corrosion HOURS

I still remember P/Ns like the back of my hand.

Don't remover any P/N's but this is burned into my brain:
11-1-A-799. Could not duplicate gripe.
Well that and the fricking "sweepers, sweepers. Man your brooms" bs that would play every night afloat.

I loved doing that shite to the squadron.
Had one time where a squadron Y coded an item back to us and we A-799'd it back to them and they Y coded it back to us again. This went on for a week before the QAO and AMO stepped in. Ended up running 2 bird checks on other birds and the item ran fine. Turned out that something else was fricked up on their jet.

Didn't really care for any of the I level shops. One time they kept sending us this screwed up CSC(control converter) that would pop a 004 terminal code and we could never get it to clear. I swear that S/N had a 6 month history of the same gripe in different aircraft.
We had a stretch where they kept sending us bad bricks(memory units) too.
FLIR shop was always cool though, hung out with them every time I went to WTI in Yuma.

Was NDI/NDT for most my career
F-15 A,B and C's
F-111F
F-4G
T-33
QF-106,QF-100
C-130's various models
CF-18 (top of vertical stab after midair lightning strike... honeycomb throughout was fried/melted)
Best job was one time xray/ultrasonic inspection of SR-71 at Mildenhall AB
Worst was every eddy current inspection of C-130 pork chop fittings between inner and outer wings done from inner wing fuel cell the size of 1&1/2 coffins. Only way in was through a service panel that took 5 mins to squeeze in and out of. Definitely not a job for anyone remotely claustrophobic. Had to do all four corners top and bottom and would take several minutes to turn around in that space. Not to mention it was a fuel cell recently purged so smelled like chit the whole time you were in there

I know all about those... I was the guy that had to roll those cells back for you to get access.
