The Panther Burn Cabin is “an 1830s slave cabin from the extant Panther Burn Plantation to the south of Belmont. It has also been used as a tenant sharecroppers cabin and a medical office for local farmers and their families to visit the plantation doctor,” according to a screenshot of the description Yates posted.

“The history of slavery in this country is constantly denied and now it’s being mocked by being turned into a luxurious vacation spot,” he continued.

So...this guy showed a quote where they acknowledge that this was a slave house, but still somehow comes to the conclusion that the history of slavery is being denied? What a complete idiot.

ETA: It isn't even a slave cabin!

quote:

Hauser added the small wood cottage was obtained from an owner in Sharkey County, Mississippi, and it wasn’t part of any plantation originally. The original owner of the building said it was used as a doctor's office and was not old enough to have housed slaves, Hauser said.

This dude played himself.

I can’t imagine wanting to sleep in a former slave cabin though.

Then you should get a room at the Holiday Inn Express.

Others might see it as a somber reminder of how things were and where we are now.

It must really suck to be perpetually offended by everything.

I agree. It’s just very poor taste imo. I can’t imagine wanting to sleep in a former slave cabin though.

There would be nothing wrong with this. What's the point of letting a perfectly useable building go to waste?

Would you go sleep at Auschwitz if they fancied it up and listed it on Air BnB?

I would go sleep at it but only if black people owned it and it was convenient to other places in the area I wanted to visit.

I doubt they would be able to build this up to a level where it would be nice enough that I would want to stay there, but if they were able to do that then I would absolutely consider staying there. Why not?

I really doubt that they'd be able to get it up to a level of niceness that I'd want to stay there though. Slave quarters must have been pretty decent if someone is willing to stay in them overnight almost 160 years later. Maybe that's the problem with this though. Maybe that's what offends you about this?

Solution! We only allow black people to own property where slaves lived.

Well, it's actually a fair description of him. The fact that he thinks what Nazi Germany did to the Jews is comparable to slavery in the United States shows a less-than-average intelligence level. I'm not sure what race the poster is, but this mindset shows either a need to be a victim, or a white savior complex.

I mean it's a fricking slave cabin. Why would this person think it was a good idea to begin with. I know the OT will see no wrong, but it's in extremely poor taste.

The kicker is further into the article

quote:

Yates said learning that enslaved people didn't live in the cottage makes the situation only worse.

"If this was actually not a slave cabin, that does not make it better in any way because it is the further romanticizing of slavery. That makes this even more horrendous that you think slavery is a selling point," Yates said.

there’s no point in answering such a mind numbingly stupid question. he’s an unserious person, as are you. no one is going to have their perspective changed on anything by this thread. if that reflects poorly on me in your eyes, I don’t care

He shared screenshots of the listing, displaying the small wood cabin with a bedroom and bathroom, dwarfed by the nearby sprawling mainhouse on the property.

It has also been used as a tenant sharecroppers cabin and a medical office for local farmers and their families to visit the plantation doctor,” according to a screenshot of the description Yates posted.

Yates explained in his video that the listing failed to recognize its history of slavery.

Yates finds another reason when recent purchaser of property explains cabin wasn’t originally part of plantation, wasn’t old enough to have housed slaves, and was listed like that by previous owner (not sure why new person copied it over to new profile which was dumb of the guy who bought property less than a month ago but also not sure if Airbnb profile was transferred as part of sale with reviews & not updated yet).

Still if it was built after slavery then after changing the wording AirBNB should let it be listed again, but I bet they will not without approval from blacks and reparations in form of % of profits donated to blm…

quote:

Brad Hauser, who became the owner of The Belmont three weeks ago, said it was advertised as a slave cabin under the previous owner...
Hauser added the small wood cottage was obtained from an owner in Sharkey County, Mississippi, and it wasn’t part of any plantation originally. The original owner of the building said it was used as a doctor's office and was not old enough to have housed slaves, Hauser said…

Blacks just want property given to them, so they can make money on them and turn them into pristine and safe dedications like the Martin Luther King BLVDs across the nation.

Mr Yates should also refuse to eat any foods grown in fields where slaves used to work.

Ex-girlfriend lived in what was the hen house of some former plantation. She couldn’t even afford the renovated slave quarters
