Right, but you don't see how discrimination leads to shame leads to people being uneducated about HIV, especially in poor black communities?

Agree to disagree then. I don't think you realize how uneducate people are about HIV in these communities.

How can one be uneducated in America about HIV in 2014? Seriously. Prevention isn't complex, it's extremely simple. We're not talking about Africa here.

Hell, on the billboard they could've stated ways to prevent contracting HIV. Cheap & efficient.

If you are ridiculed for what you are or a disease you have then you are far more likely to deny what you are or what you have. You don't see how that leads to being uneducated about HIV?

I would imagine gay black males with HIV are shamed by plenty of people, their own community being a big part of it.

if you have the disease id imagine you are educated on it. ( and pretty well I might add)

and no I still don't see how shaming is the cause of being uneducated

Grew up in one, and worked in the other. The reason they are uneducated is because they choose not to go. I do lots of HIV/AIDS awareness work

You'd be surprised then.

The same reason so many gay people refuse to come out of the closet. They fear of being ridiculed.

please someone explain how this is a civil rights issue....

Anytime there is a group of people who cause harm to themselves with bad choices, there is a liberal who is ready and willing to raise my taxes because of it.

please surprise me then. Because if you have the disease then you know pretty well what that disease does and how you got ( or you at least have a pretty good idea).

Nah, they know. I think it's more of an issue that they don't care and willfully ignore the risk involved with unprotected sex, sharing needles, etc...

That's their own fault if they are uneducated about the subject. Unless of course they have some kind of learning or mental disability. You can't hold people's hand all the time.

I believe this is true. Generally if they are poor, the mentality is to see how many kids they can have to see how big of a govt paycheck they can get. Call me an arse, but I don't feel sorry for people who are poor and have multiple kids and are subsidized by the government. My wife
and I waited until we were financially stable until we tried to have kids.

And I'm talking white, black, messican, etc.

Just looked up the federal budget for aids prevention in 2014

$1 billion is allocated to aids prevention ( that includeds education)

So I don't want to hear about being uneducated.
