quote:No doubt. One example they said was similar, it was a research project which cited multiple sources including publication name, edition, author, etc.. all of which were nonexistent.
It doesn't just lie, it completely fabricates information, and not just meaningless shite. ChatGPT has been caught multiple times fabricating scientific studies/research and attributing it to real people in related fields. Sometimes it even gives fake links that don't lead to the cited info when questioned.
I've seen Grok argue that clearly fake shite is real, and when challenged it doubled and tripled down.

Watched a documentary recently, they had google ceo and some other geniuses on there. They all said if AI doesn't know an answer, it lies. They call it "hallucinations" and they don't know exactly why it lies or how it learned to lie.
I love these people who think they can google a topic and then understand. On technical information, Google was great before 2012, afterwards the first few pages results are garbage.
Just like another crowd sourced information app, WAZE, the results are often garbage. Almost daily when I was traveling between Baton Rouge and New Orleans, WAZE showed wrecks and delays on the Bonnet Carre Spillway causeway when all it was someone on the roadside changing a flat tire or a car parked along the roadside. Even worse were the reported wrecks closer to Baton Rouge where people had driven way off the road to parked to go fishing.

We are told that AGI is feasible within 2-3 years.
I'm 40, and Ill be shocked if we get a legitimate AGI before I'm dead of hopefully old age.
I think indistinguishable image and video generation and dependable LLMs is the most we're going to see for the foreseeable future.

Is AGI an intelligence that's closer to human intelligence? If so, I don't know the answer, but I know this, AI platforms like ChatGPT have improved a lot in two years. I don't know what that will transfer to AGI, but the more it evolves the faster it evolves.. If that makes sense.

That is what AI is supposed to do, figure complex problems with solutions we cannot see yet.
AI: The world would need a lot less energy with no humans around.
