I would love to hire someone American

There's a large presence of Indian nationals in most of our locations. Chicago, Jacksonville, Dallas. They get outperformed constantly by other locals that are typically more American speaking. Birmingham, north Carolina, etc.
AI is pretty shitty at doing data stuff, you actually have to understand the data before you can just code crap. We've been trying to use it for over a year now, outside of syntax help it's garbage.

Busted a guy using AI to answer zoom interview questions a few months ago. We could hear him typing and he gave a "hmmmm, goid question... let me think..." before each response.

Hiring for a data engineer position, every resume submitted is Indian and clearly written by AI. I have nothing against Indians when they are capable people, they will lie, cheat, and steal their way to a paycheck though.
Only thing I have against them was the 15 damn scam calls a day from some dude named john I couldn't understand.

It’s easy to have a conversation with a professional and get a sense of whether they know what they’re talking about, if you’re competent.
I see you did X at position Y. Can you go into more detail on your responsibilities and the projects you worked on?
That leads to more things that reveal details about the applicant.
Now, that requires effort and not a canned list of questions or memorized leetcode garbage.

He shot and missed.
Made it way too obvious.
Plus we do an in-person second round so he'd have probably bombed.

Dealing with one now that is a tremendous POS

I work with some good ole cajun baws that have barely conquered basic English, and it is hilariously obvious when they use AI to write emails for them.

Even judges are all aboard the AI train to the bottom.

I was told AI was good, it was going to cure cancer.

Every bit of it is garbage, I've got 10 interviews next week. Every single one has an AI resume, their resume doesn't match their LinkedIn profile. These Indian people are crafty.
True story, we had one lady make it through all interviews, exactly what we were looking for, great candidate and salary in range. We hired her, not to my team but one of my peers teams I'm just part of the interview board, well a few months in she's slacking horribly. So we ask her to come into the office to meet, we are mostly remote, she refused cited excuses, would not get on camera. One person did the interview, forged documents, etc. another person was "working the job". It was in California no less, so legal proceedings galore while we paid this person for 6 months.
