If this does happen within 5 years, the social disruption that it would cause would be a net negative for society. Those externalities aren't ever priced in in the pure cost/benefit discussions.

I think these predictions are overblown. I think some jobs will be automated and others will spring up. If we replaced even 40% of all jobs we'd have total economic collapse.
Most businesses wouldn't need to automate things because they'd go under. Much of America would be back to living like the 1890s again.
