After watching some Bourbon Street live cams, I have determined Mardi Gras is trashy

Has it always been trashy, or is this a relatively new phenomenon caused by even more jackass tourists?

Mardi Gras is a spectrum from Elegant to Charitable to Trashy.

It was nice 2-3 years ago when Mardi Gras was pretty under the radar, and no one really came. These millennials and their instabook apps have really ruined the intimate celebration it used to be.
