Gustin is a crowdfunded site that occasionally has Chromexcel and other amazing briefcases/bags for good prices - you just have to make sure enough people back it and wait for the shipment. I got mine for $250 and it took ~2 months to come in. It's amazing and will last forever. Filson is also a good brand if you're leaning more casual or walking a lot in weather with it.

I'm about to be 33. That's a nice bag, but it looks like it belongs to a white haired dude that's been practicing law for for 40 years. I'll say again though, it's a nice looking bag.

Who uses a briefcase anymore, especially in construction?

Are you aware that there is a significant portion of construction that occurs away from the actual job-site? For me, easily 85% of my time is in an office or someone else's office. This isn't an uncommon thing.

I think more than anything, my point is to get something multi-functional.

I use something like this, the brown one

Yeah, that's sharp. Pretty much what I'm gonna lead her to.

And I understand how dumb it is for me to pick out a present and basically do the legwork myself. Kinda defeats the purpose IMO. However, I appreciate the fact the she has finally recognized how poor she is at gift giving when it comes to me.

Agreed, better to help her get something you need.

I don’t have a pic actually. It’s currently at work so maybe I’ll grab one tomorrow and post it.

I was in your same boat. Surface computer and half set plans. I asked the OT the same question

My thread

Lots of good suggestions. I went with a Buffalo Jackson messenger bag. Got it on sale for just under $200. Very happy with my purchase.

I've seen the BJ stuff before. Actually almost got a weekender style bag from there a couple years ago. Went the cheap route and got one off of amazon, though. They have some good looking stuff though for sure.

Samsonite Bag

This is the bag I have to carry my work laptop and some books. It has plenty of pockets for miscellaneous items including pens. The laptop portion of the bag has a Velcro strap that keeps it tight inside. I love it.

It's always funny to see someone bring in a bag like that and spend approx. 4 minutes trying to open it
