AEW Wednesday Night Dynamite Thread: A Punk in the Video Edition

AEW Wednesday Night Dynamite comes from the Charleston Coliseum in Charleston, W.V.
Apparently whatever CM Punk said in that interview a week or so ago (didn't listen to it... don't care) has AEW feeling like a response is warranted... so AEW's response... have the Corporate EVP Young Bucks come out and release footage from the incident involving CM Punk & Jack Perry at All In: London and cut a promo about it tonight on Dynamite
Samoa Joe takes on "The Natural" Dustin Rhodes in an AEW World Championship Eliminator Match to see if Dustin can earn a title shot and maybe we can have Dusty's boys hold the top championships of America's top 2 wrestling companies
In a "not an eliminator but actually a title match"... "The Rated R Superstar" Adam Copeland defends the AEW TNT Championship against Penta El Zero Miedo
"Timeless" Toni Storm holds a Charleston Championship Champagne Toast for the new #1 contender to the AEW Women's World Championship... Thunder Rosa
In G's late night website match of the night... Storm's understudy Mariah May takes on "The Star of the Show" Anna Jay
And in trios tag team action... LionHOOK ("Lionheart" Chris Jericho & HOOK) teams with "The Wrestler" Katsuyori Shibata to battle the new Shane Taylor Promotions trio of Shane Taylor, Lee Moriarty, & Anthony Ogogo (remember the British boxer that Cody Rhodes really wanted to help get over back around pandemic time? Yeah... that guy... he's back)

A member of the Rhodes family takes on a Samoan champ in the main event. I feel like I just saw this match recently.
Interested to see the Punk video. Don't see how it will help AEW but Tony says it will further the Bucks vs FTR feud leading into their match at Dynasty so I guess we'll see. Seems like this has a lot more downside than upside for the company though.

the easy way to do it is "your best friend caused all these issues and now we have to take some kind of action on you since he's not here anymore"

yeah... if this doesn't show Punk as some unhinged malcontent who was totally in the wrong... this could work against AEW
but Punk opened this Pandora's Box with the interview... so we'll see
also... pretty sure FTR cut some kinda promo on the Punk interview after the Collision taping ended last week

Maybe, but even that seems like it will come off as basically a bad comedy segment. Maybe AEW will pull a surprise, but based on their recent track record, I'm not convinced this won't be a total letdown or bad look.
Even if it shows punk lying through his teeth, you're still giving pub to a popular guy that works for the competition.

The reports I've seen say Punk tried to put a guillotine headlock on Jungle Boy and he easily got out of it, maybe reversed it. AEW is trying to embarrass Punk. I don't see how this increases ratings or ticket sales for AEW. Best case scenario is they show Punk is a liar. I doubt many WWE fans will ever see this video so the affect on Punk, if any, will be minimal.

Well no one specifically (Bucks and TK) said it was about Punk so it could be just FTR related and the dirt sheets took the innuendo and ran with it.
But yeah if it is it better be really damning for Punk or the blowback will be extreme. I get wanting to set your side of the story straight as no one should think everything Punk said is true and he's some super chill cool guy who was just trying to defuse the situation. But to use it as a ratings ploy is downright 1999 WCW bad.

Once again Punk will be AEW’s biggest draw.

AEW would kill for that kind of weekly attendance. Think they are almost at 3k for tonight. Meanwhile WWE is setting gate records every week.

If I was AEW, I would've played it off like the video was leaked. Not this world premiere attempt to boost ratings. But I guess we'll see.

If AEW had to get this video out, they should have leaked it to TMZ or some AEW friendly wrestling reporter and let them put it on twitter or youtube. Then they would at least have some plausible deniability and not look as petty.
Another interesting bit of news, Jungle Boy is working the NJPW show in Chicago on Friday night. I wonder how that crowd's gonna react to him.

Definitely not their smoothest recent stretch. Both live attendance and TV viewership in the tank, lots of top talent hurt, bad creative, this whole punk drama, roster cuts, having to cancel Arthur ashe in favor of a smaller venue.

Dustin needs the win so the Rhodes Family can officially become better than the Hart Family

The worst part of all that is that everyone is missing some of the best character work I can recall in Wrestling with Timeless Toni Storm. She's absolutely killing it.

I feel bad for Edge having to end his career in front of quarter filled arenas.
