My advice is wait a month once you have it where you want it then get it professionally tuned.

I bought a used one for around that much from Hall Piano in Metairie. Have had no issues.

That's a spinet, not an upright. Piece of crap. A used Yamaha or Kawai upright, studio or console would be a good find at $2k if the innards check out. At bare minimum you want a console

They are always on Craigslist for well under $1000. Usually around 400

Kawai is the way to go if you can find one.

People give them shits away for free all the time in big cities.

I think I remember paying around 2,200 for it and paying $300 to have it moved by professionals, then another $200 for tuning (annual expense)
Side note, there were many around my area for 1,100-1,500 but this one was like brand new condition, so worth the extra $$ to me
This is very similar to the one I bought for my kids

Look on Facebook classifieds. I saw one on there the other day where they were giving it away to somebody that would come and move it. It was in very nice condition. Not junk.

I grew up with a Steinway Grand. My upright (which I just learned is actually a spinet) sounds horrible in comparison.
Good luck in your search.

Sounds like it would be easy to test before buying.

I’ve got one just like that picture. I’m trying to convince my wife to let me sell it. It’s hers. Seriously.

I would have payed you 2k to move mine out of my house. No one ever used it.

I have three but I’m taking bids for one. It’s an antique and way out of your price range though.
