It's also sad that people purport it to be worse than it actually is. Fake racism stories, etc. Anyone with a brain knows racism still exists and will always exist to some degree everywhere, not just in the south. But it is way better than it used to be and I've witnessed that with my own eyes through several generations of interaction. My great grandfather used the n word regularly. My kids have never heard it in my home and have never said it to my knowledge. They would be mad if someone said it. So yes, society is changing for the better. No one wants to say that because it doesn't fit the narrative and bullshite that gets exaggerated and fabricated every day.
