NO it's not making you a bad person. He's demented but also has a way of just being ornary. When his sats wouldn't go above 80 and they kept finding him without it, they were like enough..full code and they didn't want to have to do that when they were busy as shite with other residents. He was really better of in the hospital.

Well I'm still at home working remotely ... we have I htink 47 empty beds and I was told today that they're prepping for admits. I'm assuming they'll cap the number per day -- I mean staff can only handle so much.

Our people are still eating (or actually not eating) in their rooms -- many with mild to severe weight loss and I swear a few are losing their minds.

I'm told it will "be a while" before visitors are allowed which I get but it's just for the residents it's hard.

I still don't know how the hell it spread to majority of our people -- ppe was never an issue from what I'm told, we had an iso unit set up 3 weeks before the first case, no visitors were allowed for at least 3 weeks before our first case. Asymptomatic employee would be the obvious guess but with proper ppe use from everyone how did it get so bad???

I don't like working from home but I dread going back .. I don't do well with a mask on.

Oh and I think that 2 that were sent out needed LTAC and ended up in the Baton Rouge area. Those who were able to come back did.

I asked the ADON if LDH had come in to help with anything and I got this as a respons " ". No one from LDH or the state did shite to help other than our staff.

Same. I read you and I are part of Phase 3. In reality, that’s likely months away, especially with the circumstances in your neck of the woods.

We have plans for an iso unit, as well, which hopefully we won’t have to employ. Interesting quip about the parish line; I’ve long suspected it’s third party that was responsible for the spread’s significance - I believe most of these agencies assign territory by parish which would support that theory.

LDH has been communicative, but it was actually a personal acquaintance at OPH that initiated testing with me. National guard support was mentioned, but, as of now anyway, we’ll be collecting swabs in-house. 70 residents and 60 staff in two days, our poor nurses are already ready to fold.

Impossible to pinpoint the spread inside facilities IMO. While care staff may be great about proper PPE use, gloving and hand-washing, etc., there are just so many opportunities for cross contamination. Serving food, housekeeping, everything. It’s amazing how many times a day I have to remind staff that their masks only serve their purpose if covering both mouth AND nose.

I didn't look at the list the first time, but it's shocking to hear that 99% of the residents had Covid even though I know it's highly contagious. That seems like it would be rare to me that a nursing home would have a 99% infection rate along with the 21 deaths. Is there more nursing homes with that high of an infection rate to go along with that many deaths? Seems like it would be very few out of the many.
