Grade counts, right?

Or give them the better result of grade before final or grade after final?

I would give him the better of the two.

But I have had plenty of dickhead teachers who count everything.

I would only exempt someone who already had an A going into it, thus making the final pointless.

That's usually only reserved for students with an A already, so what's the point. I had one teacher who was very late for a final and told us we could take the grade we had, take the final then, or come back the next day and take it. My lazy self took the B and headed straight to the fishing camp. Only time I was offered the chance to skip a final but still should ha e taken it to get an A.

Not in a plus minus system.

Yep.

No, unless you're going to do that for everyone in the class.

I'd give him the grade he gets... I guess he was going for an A+ rather than just keep an A?

So the student had an A- and he was exempted, but wanted to take the test anyway to bump it up?

My understanding of the +/- system is that it is A,A-, B+,B,B-... At least that's how it was for me in grad school away from LSU.

Is it different there? Either way, I would only exempt students who had nothing to gain by wanting to take the final.

Yeah.

What if it hurts them?

Should I say that they cant drop a letter, but they can drop to a lower grade? (A to A-)

Then that's not fair to people with A- where they can only be helped.

Thank you.

Much better answer.

You get an A.

Give him the better of the two grades. Can't fault someone for trying to get a better grade than he already has even if it was just to turn an A into an A+.

When I was in school, I'd get the grade I got inc. final.

Makes me feel better about our future knowing Pectus is molding young minds.

Whatever you end up deciding I'm sure will be the righteous choice, my man.

I don't get why he should be treated differently from students who weren't exempt from the final if he decides to take it.

If he takes it, he assumes the risk of a lower-grade. That's the trade-off.

That is what I think.

It has to be the same treatment.
