Backing into an empty parking space is less likely to cause an accident than backing into vehicle and pedestrian traffic.

Because I control the conditions when backing in. When I go to leave the space, it's about impossible to back out if someone parks too close on one side or if there is something that narrows the area behind me (like someone not pulling all the way into space behind mine). I'm not picking a space I can't get in easily - I don't have that option when I'm already there.

I always park so far out, no one parks around me. I don't mind walking.

Backing into a parking spot, whether in a truck or car, makes it easier to park in the center of the parking spot as well as makes leaving the parking spot easier.

How many times have you watched someone trying to back out of a parking spot struggle? Backing up a little, pulling forward, backing a little, turning the wheel, rinse, repeat...

What difference does it make? You have to back up either: a. When you first park or
b. When you leave

Why would this bother you? Live and let live.

do you realize that sometime the only way to get into a parking space is to back into it?

I only have a problem with it when there are numerous parking spaces available, but home baw feels the need to make me wait for two minutes while he backs into a small space that's 10 feet closer to the establishment

That is most of the time.

If it was as easy as everyone in this thread was saying, then people would be zipping into spaces backwards with no problems. Instead we get a fricking circus because the douche in the F-250 doesn't know how mirrors work.

Are you of the belief that it is easier? If so, you may be doing normal parking incorrectly.

Haha, what an idiot.

This is how people back INTO spots, in my experience.

People that work at plants or other facilities are taught to back in for safety reasons. That reason is for quicker evacuation.

It's much easier to back in and pull out then it is to pull in and back out.

Also, you have to back up either when entering or exiting a parking space. So how the frick is it inconveniencing you more when they are parking versus when they are leaving?
Because if you are backing out of the space-others driving by have the right of way and aren't inconvenienced because they don't have to wait on you. If you are backing in, you are blocking traffic.

My favorite thing to do is back into a space where my trailer hitch goes over the sidewalk. Then I sit nearby and watch Prius drivers ram their shins into it and laugh.

I'm not talking about actual work trucks, FWIW. I understand there are good reasons for that.
