those opiate withdraws will make people do shite that they never dreamed they would do.

yes they will, and it SUCKKKKKKKSSSSS.... clean for 4 1/2 years, and with my last withdrawal i used gabapentin, in very high doses, but it worked like a charm... eased that comedown tremendously.... still take it for the RLS that i still deal with, but hey, if that's all i got left from an 11 year addiction to pain meds, i guess i'm doing fine...

whoa now... it's not all that cushy, bro...

but some of us actually care about our patients, and try to give them a great experience while at the pharmacy... not all of us are fricking retarded and don't know that you guys, the patients, come first and that we should do anything and everything to service y'all as best as possible, no matter what the situation may be...

Fair enough. The OP probably could use a bit of your level headed perspective.

I think despite people's perception of addiction, the reality of it is this statement.

Out of all the people who have an addictive personality a small % of them, the worst ones, have 0 chance against addiction. A larger % of them have a chance of fighting it with help. However that brings into play admitting it and seeking help, which the majority will never do. Then there is the % like you (and me as well) who know they have an addictive personality and with restraint and self discipline can fight in on their own. (I think the % of these type of people is miniscule)

In my opinion some people are doomed to be shite heads by their genetics. Some have a shot with admitting they have a problem and seeking help. Very few with self discipline can fight it. However it's a lifelong fight no matter what the situation, one lapse could doom you for a lifetime.

The OP

sounds more like a tech, not a pharmacist... but as a pharmacist that's been practicing for 10+ years, in retail and independent pharmacy, i consider it an honor to be able to serve my patient's needs, no matter what they are...

sure, there are those patients that are challenging, those that are annoying as frick, those that are "helpless", and those that are just straight fricking retarded, but, again, without them, i don't have a job... i don't have a paycheck... i can't provide for my wife and kids... customer service is HUGE in my pharmacy.... and as the manager, i make sure that my employees know that is my main area of concern...

You're a pharmacist are you not? So do you treat all your customers this shitty and with such disgust?

I don't care if the people taking this drug are addicts or whatever. To you first and foremost they are paying customers. Without customers you wouldn't have a pot to piss in or a window to throw it out.

So instead of heaping scorn on them, how about you scoop those pills in that bottle, stick that label on said bottle and hand it to them with a smile and thank you on your lips. If that's too much and you just can't do it, there's always need for ditch diggers or burger flippers.

This is the type pharmacist that gets my business. And I'm sure with his attitude his customers talk to their friends and family who hear about the good service he provides and they become customers of his as well. This is how you do it right. Good for you.

Actually my pharmacist is one of my neighbors who is good friends with me and my wife and owns her own local pharmacy along with her husband who ironically is not a pharmacist but instead works as one of her techs.

With as many meds as I have to take, I like having a pharmacist I know cares about my well being and makes sure all my meds are right. I could probably get some of my meds cheaper elsewhere. But having a pharmacist I know I can trust is something you cant put a price tag on.

Sooo...does the OP disagree with what the current evidence says about suboxone? That it is obvious that it saves lives?
As a physician boarded in addiction medicine I can tell you that you need to check yourself- your self serving attitude sucks.
Suboxone and methadone may not fit your paradigm but they keep people ( yes- human beings that may have an addiction- but are still someone's kid or relative) from fatal od's and from getting HIV and hep c that would cost us all a fortune.
Tl;dr the OP needs to get off his fricking high horse

I don't think it was directed at all sub users, just the ones who catch an attitude when they haven't done their paperwork or seen to it that they are approved for the medicine that they want. It's not like most of these people are new to this game, they know the rules and the field, and probably the majority of those who honestly want the product to kick a habit have their paperwork done already I would imagine.

This takes the fricking cake. You picked a profession in which you are getting medicine to sick people, and don't for one second think addicts are not very sick people. Now you're trashing these people, it's not like they broke into your house, stole your TV and raided your medicine cabinet.

So these people didn't treat you with the utmost respect, like the guy above said they are paying customers, get over it. I can guess from your statement as well that I'm sure you treated the people you have a problem with, with the utmost respect and dignity.

Do cancer patients seeking their medication always come in with a smile on their face not the least bit agitated. My mom is on her 3rd bout with breast cancer and I can tell you she isn't always in the best mood. She often snaps at strangers who don't deserve it. I thank God when people act exactly opposite of you and treat her with respect and kindness after. Almost always after that, she apologizes and tells them it's her treatment and sickness that made her snap.

Take a second to put yourself in the shoes of the individual your trashing. For fricks sake they just made the decision to get off heroin. Which has been regarded as hell on earth, something I hope never to experience

A glorified drug dealer bitching about selling drugs. If it bothers you so bad stop selling them in your store. If you don't own the store then STFU and fill prescriptions. If you can't do that then go back to flipping burgers. Bitch.

If you don't like people who do drugs, don't sell them. You work at an establishment that says pharmacy on it. You beg people who buy drugs to come in, then bitch when they get there
