He was most definitely impulsive.
As for charming, he was a fixer for very powerful people. He rose through the ranks somehow. I think because we have a lot of movies and TV shows with what we think of as traditionally 'charming' psychopaths like Hannibal Lector and Patrick Bateman that it gives us a distorted view of what psychopathic charm has to look like. If he was just this loose cannon, sullen figure all the time then he would have been killed before the events of No Country for Old Men ever happened. You can even tell Woody Harrelson's character has a sort of admiration for him, and he didn't know him extremely well. I say that as just a movie watcher though, the book may show more about Chigurh.

I spent the better part of 2001-2003 dealing with one. He destroyed multiple lives and multiple futures. He cost my dear Father his entire life's work. He was basically a reptile and I couldn't believe everybody couldn't see it. By the time they did, it was too late. And it was obvious to me 5 minutes in.
On 9-11 he was visibly agitated that the attention was off of him. That was a symbolic moment for me, before his financial crimes began.

Wow, how many hours and money was spent to come to this conclusion that we all know?
I didn’t know this. And there’s someone here arguing about the definition of a psychopath so he didn’t know this either.

Psychiatry is such quack medicine. I’ve never met a single person associated with psychiatry or psychology that I thought was a well balanced, normal individual.

Never heard of this, had to search what was this about. Saw it was listed as a great movie. I guess I'll have to check it out. Is it as good as they say it is?
It’s an excellent movie. I don’t know anyone who’s seen it that wouldn’t highly recommend it.

Psychopaths are superficially charming and impulsive. Nothing charming or impulsive about Chigurh.
IYAM he was a supernatural or semi supernatural entity.
Yeah. He was more like Nelson from Ozark. Looked at killing like a business. Killed people he had to, not people he wanted to. He didn’t get off to it.
If you watch the Ted Bundy court case or interviews, he’s nothing like Chigurh.
Zac Efron playing Ted Bundy was a way better portrayal.
