For sure the smallpox affected the Aztecs … not sure about Mississippi

i think the estimate was that about 50 million NA pre columbia. 1500-1600 s After smallpox and diseases and by the time we started living here in numbers in 1700s it was down to 5 million. 95 % were gone.
Even the pilgrims first settlement of plymouth was an old indian village that was abandoned due to being decimated by small pox
