I'm honestly shocked many here are skeptical a white kid in a nice house couldn't be aware of what is going on around him. I guess this stuff only happens in The Wire and in West BMore.

Knowing what marijuana looks like? Sure. But meth? Depending on the flavor, it looks somewhere between course salt and raw unbleached flour. Most adults wouldn't know meth if you threw it at them. Now, could this woman be a level of insane that she handles and discusses meth, talking about it by name, in front of the kid? Sure.

I was working under the assumption that she's not quite that stupid

This.

With TV and the internet nowadays, a 9 year old would definitely know what meth is.

Also, who gives a shite if the dad sent him fishing.

That kid needs to get out of that situation.

I doubt he specifically thought “meth”, but 99% of kids nowadays who found a ziplock bag full of powder under their parent’s nightstand would know it is drugs.

Most of you would be horrified by what kids know and tell me in the ER.

They have access to all that info now.

We used to look at the naked women in National Geographic in class. They are way beyond that nowadays.

I'm likely giving the reporter more credit for their mastery of the English language than I should be. The reason I reacted the way I did was because of this phrasing:

"... then that's when I knew what it was."
"Police confirmed... meth..."

I read that was "kid said it was meth, and yep, turns out it was meth!"

But again, I'm probably giving them too much credit in my presumption of precision

If you watch the video, the kid just says “drugs”.

Let's just play stupid here as adults for a sec. You're a dad and had 100g of meth at home. You either smoke it, or sell it. Which is easier to hide IYO? You hitting 400 doses of meth from that baggy and cooking Manwich and reading to son. You selling a gram for $60 a twist? Both?

Son locking himself in bathroom...

Must be the crazy kid and Dad's fault

Ah, then that tracks.

Because yeah, criminal defense attorney. I don't think you could actually surprise me with what the average 9 year old kid knows. I was just going to be blown the frick away that a 9 year old can do what most police officers can't seem to do consistently.

At this point, everything is fent. Powders are fent, pills are fent. They aren't even field testing the shite anymore. If it's not clearly something else, it's going in the report as fent

I'm genuinely not sure what you're trying to convey here, and I'm not saying it's anyone's "fault". I was simply surprised the kid would clock it as meth, which now Scruffy has pointed out is just unclear reporting in the article, and the kid just clocked it as a narcotic of some kind. Mystery solved

Good.

Worthless piece of shite exposing a 9-year-old that lifestyle.

Maybe, just maybe, the kid sees other troubling shite. Come on. Snap out of this weird not guilty cute schick trend. Kids aren't idiots and 100g of meth is an arse load for Ms. PTA.

Exactly. Decent chance he told the dad about the sketchy strangers that stop by and he told him to be on the look out bags of powder and to call him if he found anything, or something like that.

Good job kid and good job dad.

This was headed towards a disaster
