I read that all were volunteers.
Lt. David led by physically going first and earned that Medal of Honor.
The next two earned the Navy Cross.
Others earned the Silver Star.
The group earned the Presidential Unit Citation.
Capt. Gallery earned the Distinguished Service Medal.
It all seems reasonable in my view.

When I went to see this sub, it was still outside and looking rusty. Glad that it has been moved indoors and maintained.

I went inside this sub 3 years ago in Chicago.
