I'm all for allowing anyone in the world to have the opportunity to live the American Dream. It has driven 2 centuries worth of people from around the world and IMO what has made The US the superpower it is. Because we took in driven folks it only helped other people be driven and allowed for unparalled growth.
However, allowing in just the freeloaders is only disentigrating what Americans have built.
Certainly people around the world are still driven, so if we took in more driven ones, we can once again become great.
We already have enough lazy people in this country that don't want to work. I wouldn't mind seeing them get replaced with eager immigrants.

However, acting like they had a choice to come either legally or illegally is ill informed. There is no way for these kinds of people to just come here legally. If there was, they would do it.
They did have a choice. No one forced them too. I agree it's better here. Living in America is better than anywhere else on Earth, but it's not a God given right, it's a privilege.

Is life really that bad in Mexico / Central America that you're willing to get into a packed trailer and head into the US?
My wife's family is from Mexico (her great grandmother was born in Cuernavaca (sp?), so I tell everyone "she's the whitest Mexican you've ever met"). That country is a shite hole. There are no social safety nets. Imagine every church on Sunday with 30 beggars outside.

Unfortunately this is one of the many situations involving death regarding people crossing the border. Each summer bodies will expire trying to cross the King Ranch, or out in West Texas, Arizona, NM, etc.
These people may work hard for a living here in the states, but as illegals that are undocumented, they won't pay taxes like the rest of us.
For America to continue to be the great melting pot, this shite has got to stop.

So your answer to this problem is for them to come here pay no taxes and drain our social safety nets without ever contributing.
Thats the problem with the world no one wants to take a stand and say this is my country and i'm not gonna let this happen. In the past thats how revolutions were born. Not today its im out and let somebody else deal with it!

Unfortunately, this has been a popular smuggling method for a while.

Generally speaking, the illegals work hard. Yes they don't pay taxes, but they don't make much either, and if they were documented, wouldn't pay much, if any, in taxes at all. They also take a lot of the shite jobs nobody else is willing to do. Sure it sucks that they make use of some institutions paid for by taxpayers (school, health). But at the end of the day, I have a bigger problem with the welfare kings and queens that are complete mooches and don't work at all, and are generally a bigger detriment to society than the illegal Mexicans.

If you are here illegally, you are a criminal.

Not surprised by the lack of empathy in here.

They've never had to because they know their citizens can just go north and be our problem. Mexico is a massively corrupt government that's never held to account.

Not true. Many make good money, they just do the work our citizens have turned their nose up at...
Fish processing plant in town, used to employ college students. These kids would live in tents, work 12 hours a day, 7 days a week and make a killing in overtime. Basic pay is low but paychecks were high.
Now that plant is full of people who don't speak English. These people are working themselves into the middle class.
