“Ladies and gentleman this is your wannabe captain speaking. We’ve reached our cruising altitude of about 110 feet. Passenger on the left side of the aircraft should have a good view of the ground, treetops, and shocked spectators. Our flight plan calls for us reaching around 350 knots and total flight time of 57 seconds until we contact a power line or treetop. Think of us when you book your next flight. “

American Airlines 587 went down from the vertical stabilizer sheering off. I'm for any and every preventative measures to avoid things like this
Unlike the scenario suggested in the OP, 587's demise had nothing to do with any rudder defect. The FO had an idiotic response to wake turbulence. The FO repeatedly moved the rudder from hard left to hard right, stressing it far beyond its design capabilities:
quote:
The National Transportation Safety Board determines that the probable cause of this accident was the in-flight separation of the vertical stabilizer as a result of the loads beyond ultimate design that were created by the first officer’s unnecessary and excessive rudder pedal inputs. Contributing to these rudder pedal inputs were characteristics of the Airbus A300-600 rudder system design and elements of the American Airlines Advanced Aircraft Maneuvering Program (AAMP).

Sadly he was doing exactly as he was trained by AA. Obviously they changed their training program following this incident.

You talking about the airplane made by a completely different company, of a completely different design, that suffered a catastrophic failure due to pilot error?
