Aug 20 2014, smoked my last Pall Mall.

For 20 years, I was a pack and a half a day smoker during the week, and a solid two packs a day on the weekends. Wife got pregnant (pics already posted, inb4congratsonthesex), life got real, the motivation kicked in. You can do it too. The only side effect is I put on 20 pounds that I still can't shake to this day. I actually got it all off once, but it all came back. But that's another story for another thread.

Let the upvotes rain down upon me.

My gf was a smoker(no pics), gave up smoking for a vape to help her give up smoking. She's now hooked on vapes.

Right on! From someone that has chronic lung disease (not smoking related) you don't want to end up here.

Doesn't seem to be, well at least for me.

There needs to be a study on how some people don’t get addicted to nicotine and can have an occasional dip or cigarette on the weekends versus someone who does a can of dip a day or a pack of smokes a day.

Do you think dependency is psychological or physical?

Great question.

I read an article of a former heroin addict that gave it up but could never quit smoking cigarettes. Yet some people can have a few cigarettes here and there when drinking and not crave one the next day

Congrats!
It’s been 2 1/2 years since I touched a cigarette. I feel so much better each day than I use to. I also don’t get congested or soar throats nearly as often as I use to and when I do, it usually clears up in a day.

She's been addicted to nicotine the entire time. Still, vaping is better than smoking.

I gave up tobacco (and nicotine) cold turkey to start the new year 2015. Very positive change to my life.

Early on, in those situations, i would bum one and just hold on to it, in my hand, behind my ear, etc. Luckily with good supportive friends, they would have whipped my arse if I had lit it, but it helped through some of those moments.

If a person starts smoking full-time at 16 with the independence of a driver's license, and then has a baby at 36, is that unreasonable or unimaginable?
