The Ernest N. Morial Convention Center board moved forward Thursday on its long-planned $575 million "headquarters" hotel, approving a deal with operator Omni Hotels & Resorts and its architect's plans to build a 300-foot tower in the Warehouse District.
If approved by the city, the 1,000-room hotel would be the largest to be built in New Orleans in nearly half-a-century. The convention center's leaders have called for years for a large new hotel attached to the center, which they've argued is necessary to compete with cities like Austin, Nashville and Orlando.

Are they trying to have that ready before the Super Bowl? No shot.

Wonder if it will go as well as the Top Golf has been.

Where would this be in proximity to the Manning's Bar?

Way closer to the bridge, almost attached to the Convention Center

The “knock off” Top Golf looks really nice

This would be great but I wish it was closer to the French Quarter.

Thats more than what the Saints were worth after Katrina
Love the architecture - reminiscent of Soldier Field

If New Orleans city leaders were able to crack down on crime and reduce it to an acceptable level, they would easily be bigger than Nashville and Austin in terms of tourism.

But found a different proposed site on a different website.
They scratched that location. It’ll be located where the old Sugar Mill is located.

I guess the Omni on Convention Blvd. is no more?
Posted on 1/30/25 at 4:00 pm to GeorgeReymond
So it's being built on top of Triangle Street?

So this is not part of the new entertainment district they are building to the south of the Convention Center?

Just stay at Caesars, you are half way between the two.
And you are taking a gamble multiple ways.

Yep, I deleted it from my post. It's at the Generations Hall location

Originally built as a sugar mill in the 1820s, Generations Hall strives to carry on the tradition of hosting elegant New Orleans style wedding receptions, rehearsal dinners, banquets, and other events.

In addition to accepting a formal letter of intent with Omni Hotels & Resorts to own and operate the hotel, the organization also voted to approve a purchase and sale agreement for property at Convention Center Boulevard and Andrew Higgins Boulevard. The site, currently operated as The Sugar Mill event venue, is directly across the street from the convention center and is the preferred location for the headquarter hotel.

Surprised that one ever got built. Hope it does well.
The Top Golf was supposed to be off Tchoupitoulas near the Convention Center. Last I heard, the project was completely halted because of issues with permanently closing Melpomene St.

Isn't the knock-off Top Golf located right across from the old Melph projects? Sure, they got torn down but the surrounding neighborhood is still rough.

Correct. It’ll be nearby but this is its own thing.
