This right here. Forced masking and vaccination of children is about the dumbest thing that has come out of all of this. In addition, the arbitrary nature of masking (yes in school, no at basketball games, yes in public school, no in private school, yes sitting in a desk, no sitting at a restaurant) makes it really hard to get on board.
Cheers to this family for advocating for their son and for everyone else's children.

Parents, traditionally, have been the utmost authorities on their children. You are correct that the parents chose the school, but there were likely no mask-mandates in place when this child started there. You do realize that the modern school structure is still relatively new?
Not following rules sometimes is what keeps society in check. If Americans had all just blindly followed "the rules" we would all be British.

Dad, sounds like an intelligent man. His son is going to do just fine. These school administrators are power-tripping idiots.

Yep. The U-High Director really does not have a choice in the matter. When LSU instituted their mask mandate, U-High didn't have a choice. Maybe the Director could have requested the mandate not apply to kids under the age of X.
From LSU:
"Masks will be required indoors and within 50 feet of building entrances/exits where congregating occurs."
The mandate makes no sense but nothing regarding Covid does. At least they are not requiring (yet) that all kids over the age of 5 be vaxed (like NOLA public schools).
