$4600 for a miniature dachshund? (Petland)

My wife and I went into a pet land and saw a dog that looked like one we had up until a few years ago. Someone in the booth next to us was looking at a dapple version and I heard the worker say $4800. When my wife got done looking at another miniature dachshund, the worker said $4600. Do their dogs come with a gold bar inside of them?? We bought a miniature dachshund that was our pet for many years from petland probably 16 years ago for around $500 (discounted from $750 because of age). I don't know how they think a dog is worth 9x what we paid for one 16 years ago. I can still find those dogs in news papers for $500

I paid less than half that for my Labrador retriever who is highly trained to pick up ducks. And I have his genealogy going back to England 10 generations, and his dad is the mascot for ducks unlimited and is on the cover of magazines.

We weren't going to buy one. We just like browsing in the windows. We have a dog already. She just wanted to see one that reminded her of her old one

Petland is terrible. All of their dogs come form shelters. Why not just go to the pound or a rescue for a family pet?

You should get your dogs for free on craigslist or just take a dog a for free from someone or go to a shelter instead of paying hundreds or thousands for a dog when so many dogs are killed in shelters.

My other dashound that I've owned looked like that one. She was dumber than a box of rocks tho. It was the last one of the litter left besides a blind one. Beautiful dog, just not bright. Had one blue eye and one brown
