This weekend in Lafayette, my nephew who plays travel baseball and his family, stayed at a Homewood Suites during their stay. During this stay the families and players frequented the pool area. During one outing a few of the young players (all age 7-8) were in the deep end and soon felt something under their feet. They pulled the lifeless body of a 4 year old boy from the depths to the surface for immediate medical attention.

They felt for a feint pulse and found one. He was a young black child who was now white as a ghost (please refrain from the racist shite please for this post). One of the parents who is in the medical field began to perform CPR and after about 20 seconds he spewed out the chlorinated water from his lungs. He was asked his name and his age along with other questions. He was so disoriented that he gave them nothing.

He had no supervision it seemed. The young boy had no one come and claim him. The lobby called for an EMT and police. The EMT showed up and took the kid to the hospital (don't know which one). Kids were crying along with some parents I was told including my sibling.

They contacted the hospital for assurances and his full name was not disclosed but only shared that he would be in the hospital for a week.

I don't know his current status or the extent of his injuries if any more than shared.

They believe the people responsible for his well-being were among the large crowd. It is an emerging event and those there were highly enraged. Whoever cowards left him unattended or disappeared during the event deserve everything coming their way as this unfolds.

Happened yesterday afternoon I believe or Saturday. Wasn't told the exact day. I pray this young child recovers fully and finds some folks who will let him know they care. The group have stayed in contact with the hospital and wish to see him but they won't allow it because they aren't "family".

Proud if my family and those who saved this young boys life.

How does a 4 year old drown underneath you in a small hotel pool without anyone noticing?

Honestly?

Social Services can’t remove this kid fast enough if he makes it.

And why wouldn’t he be floating at the surface.

I'm the middle man here. I wasn't there. Just relaying information.

I understand your logic fully and ask myself the same question.

I wish I knew.

I was at a hotel in gulf shores for work. It was the summer, so lots of families. One morning, I’m downstairs getting hot water and noticed this little black kid eating breakfast and wTching the tv by himself, maybe 5-6. As I come back through, I made eye with him and realized he’s wide eyed and panic looking. I walk over and ask if he’s ok, but he’s gasping for air. I pull him out the booth and light give him the Heimlich and a grape pops out. A bunch of folks had come over by this time and said the parents were no where to be seen. I left him in the hands of the hotel manager after he stopped crying.

That shite still bothers me. I have 4 kids ranging from 2 to 18. I know where my kids are every second of every day and I’ll be damned if I just leave them be.

Drowning victims generally don't float until they start to decompose and gases build up in the gut, then they surface.

i dont mean to de rail this thread or anything but this is not taught any more because without extensive training it is not accurate at all. you can not tell between a faint pulse and your own pulse.

Just for future reference if someone reads this and has a chance to save a life. your time should not be wasted trying to feel a pulse.

air in lungs = float, water in lungs = sink.

The parents should be flogged and lose their parental rights.

There’s nothing racist about calling out bad parenting. If you’re any color and fall into that category, then it shouldn’t be viewed as racist. Just don’t be a piece of shite and take care of your kids....

The kid shouldn’t have to die because people made excuses for shitty parenting.

Solid post. Any info that can help other drown victims. I've never encountered such a situation, but will remember this info.

I think my sister was so shook up she was talking off the cuff.

There are shitty parents everywhere.

About 6 months ago I had stopped at a gas station to get a drink and I notice a little boy 4-5 yrs old walking around the store by himself. Then I see him walk out the door and he is looking around. So I walk over and open the door and he looks up at me and says "I can't find my mommy" and started to walk off. I told him to come back in the store and we would go get the lady at the register to help us. We start talking to the lady at the register and this woman comes out of the women's bathroom and the cashier asks the boy if that is his mom and he says yes. The little boy is still upset and goes over to his mom and tells her he couldn't find her and that bitch acted like it was no big deal.

We were at a gas station that is about 100 yards from the interstate and all I could think of is that stupid bitch is the reason children get abducted.

You should visit one of these hotels on a tournament weekend. The pool resembles a blender. I am way too nervous to stay around it. I let my kids swim this weekend, but it scared the shite out of me. It is possibly the most unsafe environment in America.

Oh, I also have discovered that there are folks that think it is perfectly fine to send your 5-7 year old all over the hotels unattended. It is mind boggling.

I travel frequently for work and see this all the time with kids running around with no parents. My parents weren't helicopter parents by any stretch but they knew where I was at and I damn sure didn't run around in public at 7 or 8 unattended.

I was at a playground with my buddy and his kids which happened to be across a three lane busy street from a facility with several ball fields.

Saw a three or four year old boy standing by himself off to the side of the playground. I watched him for a bit until I determined he wasn't with any of the families at the playground. I walked over, knelt down and tried to talk to him but he was just staring around and obviously terrified. So I picked him up and walked back over to where the other people were to ask if anyone knew the kid. No one had a clue and we called the police to come get him. A few minutes later a big whale white trash lady comes storming over from the ballfield side across the busy street and snatches the kid out of my arms and stomps back across the street. Right as she came storming up, the scared kid pissed all over me.

So no thanks from the parents, had to deal with the police that showed up and explain why the kid was gone and I had a piss soaked shirt to wear home. frick shitty parents.
