How much should installation cost for a new 4 ton 16 seer HVAC system in an occupied home?

Thanks and GO!

$4000-$6000. Get multiple quotes. Some places will try to charge you as much as 8k. I got a 4 ton trane (17 seer)for 4300 (Condenser and coil), but that was in March. Would have been an extra 2200 for air handler and furnace, but the company that did it for me said I wouldn't need to replace them for a long time.

I had a Trane 5-ton put in last year.... condenser and coil, but I didn't get a new air handler. Those things alone were about $6500. So I would think you'll be around 6k with everything.

The issue I have is that this house is fairly old and I am about to sell it. I don't want to put 10-12k into a house I'm about to sell but I need A/C for the summer. I don't know what to do in this situation.

We just had the whole system in our 20 year old house replaced last month. I'm amazed at how much more efficient the new system operates.
We ended up going with Baton Rouge Heating & Air. We paid charged us $6500 for a Trane 3 ton. He also rebuilt the return air box, and some duct routing.

Make the investment. You don't need Trane or Carrier, but you do need A/C if you plan to sell. Go with Goodman if you're looking to save a few bucks.

We bought the house for $10M less than appraisal knowing that the A/C was near it's end. It gave two issues within a few months during the summer my wife was pregnant, so I decided it was time.
