The zoned elementary school is a 5/10. How good can the neighborhood be?
Most people send their kids to magnet schools, which are pretty good. There are actually good public/magnets schools in Shreveport/Bossier, which is why the majority of people don't have to attend private schools, unlike in BR, Lafayette, Mandeville/Covington.

I suppose crown molding is no longer in fashion.

People are building shitty “custom” homes like this in Baton Rouge for $1,000,000?
I don't think so, but there are a lot of expensive homes with a similar style that are sort of on "in fill" developments off Goodwood, Jefferson, and parts of Capitol Heights. You could probably get a very good place in those areas for that price.
The one in the OP looks like it's in a subdivision pretty far from the main parts of Shreveport. If I'm living on the outskirts, I'd prefer a larger lot and a a larger proportion of the square footage on the main level. This seems more comparable to U-Club or something..

Is it in provenance...if so that's your answer. The allure is the location. Walking distance to a stocked lake, multiple parks and a strip of high end resturants and shops. Looks like a house that would be there

It's because of where it is. Location is very important in Shreveport. You're either in the right area or you're moving to Bossier after you've had enough being preyed on.
