It has been over 500k people during the weekend at times. It is the second largest free festival behind Mardi gras. It's still ahead of French quarter fest. Oh it's in Ponchatoula not Hammond.

But does it have live jousting though?
Posted on 4/11/14 at 12:13 pm to XxxSpooky1
I wish they would move it from FQF weekend, but I think it may thin out both from being unbearably crowded.

No way in hell that they have 300,000 people out there for that...

Live jousting ain't no joke.

I heard 200,000 was the expected number this morning on the radio.
Granted it's cumulative for the weekend but it's still a shite load

There's maybe 3 million people in a 100 mile radius of this event, maybe 3 million. New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Houma, Northshore, McComb and Jackson. i'd say it's more like 2 million at most.
I seriously doubt people fly in to come to this festival, or drive and stay at hotels for it.
so you think 25% of the population that lives within a 100 miles of this event goes to it?
I've been, it is crowded. To think there's more than 100,000 people there in a day is just retarded though.
Think about how many people tailgate for the Bama game. no way there are that many people at this festival.

That nonsense slogan is just used as a marketing tool.
Last year FQF broke its ONE DAY attendance record on Sat with 303,000. Strawberry fest is said to come close to that on a good year, TOTAL. But comparing it to FQF's 550,000+ over four days just shows how lacking LA's education is in the mathematics department.

you're taking this way too seriously bruh
Posted on 4/11/14 at 1:10 pm to Choctaw
How do they even know how many people attend FQF? Isn't it a free event in the quarter, no tickets, no gates, no attendants?
Posted on 4/11/14 at 1:10 pm to Choctaw
Your right, facts don't matter.

I'm do alot festival a lot and there are couple big festivals in the state including the strawberry festival bringl people from throughout the country and even across the globe so it wouldn't be inconceivable to say that they would get 300,000 people throughout the weekend if not more

You do realize those numbers are just estimates It is surveys of the amount of cars in the area the traffic and things like that so either one of you could be right really there is no way to tell for certain if it is a free festival as there is no no way to count how many people came in and out

Hate to bust your feelings but look on louisianas travelers websites.
Mardi gras
Strawberry fest
Festival international de Louisiana in Lafayette
French quarter fest
Christmas lights festival
I'm glad you have been to the strawberry fest once. The FQF is still a relatively new festival so it breaking it's opening day record year over year isn't that impressive to me. Oh should I also mention SF is three days not four.
Either way, SF has been around and known about way longer than FQF. So yes I do believe people fly in to go to this festival and most likely split the two festivals.

FQF started in 1984
SF 1971
I don't know why you are so defensive over a festival
