Online tributes are pouring in after three travel vloggers known for sharing adventures on YouTube died this week after plunging nearly 100 feet over Shannon Falls waterfall in Canada.

Ryker Gamble, Alexey Lyakh and Megan Scraper — members of the High on Life channel — fell on Tuesday. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) aided in a major search.

According to the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, witnesses said Scraper fell from rocks at the top of the waterfall and was pulled by a strong current. Gamble and Lyakh then reportedly jumped into the water in a failed attempt to rescue her. The RCMP said in a release: “The individuals were with a group of friends when they slipped and fell into a pool 30 meters [98 feet] below.”

For those of you who have been to Whistler/Squamish/Vancouver ,Shannon Falls is a big tourist must-do. They had ZERO chance of survival. Mother Nature gets you every time, you have to practice maximum respect. Very sad, by all accounts they were very positive, adventure-oriented people. EDIT- by some other accounts later in this thread they took unnecessary risks and frequently tempted fate.

RIP.

nah.

any professional rescuer wil ltell you that jumping in does nothing....better to try and get to the pool below as fast as possible and try and help her then.

adding 2 more bodies doesnt help the situation.

Those falls don't even look overly vertical, I doubt they could bit the bottom without smashing into the rocks multiple times.

Unless that pic isn't presenting it as it looks in real life.

Yeah, but we are talking about young vloggers, not professional rescuers. I said I respect them, not that I admire their wisdom. Reading comprehension.

meanwhile, commenters on the page have voiced frustration that members of High On Life are asking for money at all, calling it “narcissistic” and “low” for social media celebrities — people who got paid to travel and engage in high-risk stunts, including cliff-jumping, in other words — to ask for such a sum. (While High on Life says its members have been “trained and involved in gymnastics, diving, stunts, and the extreme sports community for over a decade,” it’s unclear whether any of the deceased had travel or life insurance.)

The stupidity I see from tourists never ceases to amaze me.

Yeah, but just think about how many likes the rescue video would have gotten. Totally worth the risk.

These were the same guys who got in trouble at Yellowstone for disregarding posted warnings and dicking around with the hot springs. Their stupidity finally caught up with them.

We have them die every year, mainly doing things that they shouldn't be doing alone.

Some lady from Minnesota died yesterday when an Ice Cave collapsed on her.

I thought this was gonna be one of the overused "could have been me" lines

Thanks for skipping it

Yeah, in Colorado we had two words for them:
Californians and Texans.

One year they had to helicopter some Texans jeep off a mountain and they charged him like 50k.
