My wife and I celebrate our 25th anniversary at the end of June and I want to plan a trip as a surprise. A little background. We are both near 50, would like to travel where it isn't so hot during the July time frame, and would rather not go to he Asian Pacific rim. Budget is $5-6K. Don't care as much for the nightlife. Would prefer something more romantic and appealing to the eye. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance for any recs.

I honestly couldn't come up with a single answer so I give you two amazing suggestions.

Holly Beach or Bawcomville

Two national treasures.
Your budget should allow for a choice of either.

We still go there a few times every week. Luckily she hasn't turned it off yet.

how many nights? have you traveled internationally before?

Alaska might work. But pretty much anywhere tropical is going to be hot in July, unless you were to go to indonesia or something.

One city in Italy (Rome, Venice, etc) for 3 days then head over and spend a majority of the time (4 days) in Amalfi Coast...

Looking at seven nights. We have been to many places in Europe, Asia, and the Caribbean. was looking at maybe Argentina, Canary Islands/Spain, or maybe Italy since that is one place in Europe we haven't been to.

Ireland. Drive around the countryside and chill.

Argentina

My wife and I went to Argentina and had an amazing time. Airline tickets are pricey but everything else is very cheap. Spent time in Buenos Ares and then flew to Mendoza to tour wine country. Also, rented a car and drove through the Andes. Fabulous trip.

This is your answer. If you're the sight seeing type, make sure to hit Florence, Rome & Venice, day trip to Pisa/cinque Terra (sp?). Would be a full week but well worth it.
Or if you just want to stay in one place and take in the sights, any of those places would be fun to stay a week.

Was maybe thinking Milan then over to Venice and maybe a train ride down to Rome for a couple of days. Don't know if a week would allow for getting down to Rome however.

Argentina looks amazing from what I have researched. I started my search with Argentina and Italy in mind as possible destinations.

Ya, the Mediterranean is pretty much foolproof for an anniversary.

sounds really unpleasant for 7 days. It takes two days to get to argentina. And a full day to get to spain / back.

but that is just me.

If you want to head south, we LOVED Colombia and Peru and its a lot closer than argentina.

3-6 k I'd say go to the Kauai and spend a few days on the South shore at the Grand Hyatt with maybe a couple nights up on the north shore at the Princeville St Regis.

Paris is cool. Barcelona is nice. Montreal is nice in the Summer and much cheaper. Vancouver is the nicest city for my money in North America. Banff and Lake Louise are gorgeous. Scandanavia is great in Summer. A tour of Great Britains great cities. So many places.
