I hate this. The president is an example of an extraordinary individual. One whose education and experience is disproportional to the majority of black people in this country. Hers an old saying in the black community. "You have to work twice as hard, to be just as good"

Why do you need approval from the government?

The system deserves as much as blame as the community. Because the system is what made the community in the first place.

Is the gov't causing dudes to not pull out or wear condoms? Is the gov't causing girls to spread their legs with every sunrise? Has the gov't created a situation where having fatherless children and no family life to speak of the accepted norm? The root of the problem is children being born with no family life or anyone that cares about them. No father, no discipline. Just a bunch of illegitimate children being born left to fend for themselves. About 20% survive and become productive members of society. The other 80% didn't have the chance the second momma dropped her drawers. Is the gov't to blame for this? I would like to hear your answer.

So why not separate yourself from the system?

Blacks are still slaves and they don't even realize it. Blacks continue to vote for the democrats and in return, the politicians give them just enough to keep them alive. I'll never understand why they blindly vote for the dems.

Yeah, as a percentage of the population N.O. probably has more government house to support people who work half as hard to be half as good.
As a matter of fact, it is that gov. housing and section 8 BS located so close to the quarter that is probably leading to 99% of the crime issues in there.
Luckily the culture is slowly being changed. The schools are slowly getting better and more and more people are caring about their neighborhoods, etc.
Not the way I would prefer it being done, but with N.O. booming right now, real estate prices are pushing alot of TPOS out of the city.

I don't disagree with what you believe but it is hard for people to give the black community the benefit of the doubt when it happens with such frequency and drug violence is met with apathy at best. Rap culture has often promoted this violence. I don't see this aspect of today's racism changing until a meaningful movement to stop the violence comes from within the black community. This is a national perception issue.

BUT the community DOES deserve blame. That is the point I am trying to get at.
I grew up in the Southpark System, where the two "token" black friends I hung out with the most had much more money than any of us, so I never saw the struggle and was already an adult before I knew it existed.
I can't see the government being fully at fault when at the same time the government is supporting much of the community. The community can't even support itself. Which annoys me because I went out and made work for myself and did okay. Is it only because I am white? Then why are 75% of my customers black?
I mean I get blaming the government for things, I'm a Liberal it's our way, the govt is the solution for all problems created by the government.
But we can't honestly look at the POOR community in NOLA and say "it's the governments fault you are poor"
Not the FACT that many CHOOSE not to work and CHOOSE to stay at home.
Because there are jobs out there. I see the bus stations all over packed with those willing to go to work, yet I see the neutral grounds on any given day with people sitting out drinking while most of us are working.
I guess they blame the government too.

We can have Red Light cameras throughout the city but we can't have crime cameras on the corners of the first 10 blocks on Bourbon Street. No money to be made in crime cameras.
NOPD can set up daily stings to ticket countless drivers on Conti St for not wearing a seat belt. Yet NOPD leadership doesn't have the strategic capability to set up a NOPD officer on each side of each intersection on the first 10 blocks of Bourbon Street on Fridays & Saturdays between 8pm and 6am. Much easier to just have two groups of 12 police officers huddled and socializing on Bourbon.
NOPD can set up DUI checkpoints in Lakeview and Uptown where criminals are most likely to pay their fines and legal fees. However, we can't have street NOPD walk up to random people that look under 30 on Bourbon Street carrying a beverage and ask for ID. Because how many of the ones that don't present ID's could be busted for parole violations? No money in that. Underage kids would just know better than to carry a drink from the club to the street.

Well mainly because the Dems are the better party for the future of America. But that isn't the debate.
