I really enjoyed the whole rumble and the men's rumble match I liked how the showcased the highflyers and younger talent early and transition to the stars was cool. Really mixed is some fun match ups during the match.

Loved the swerv at the end. I think Cina wants to put people over.

I’m watching the 1995 Royal Rumble on the IPTV 24/7 Royal Rumble channel. Much better back then.

My god... I just flipped to AFW on the TNT west feed and the change of quality is jarring. It reminds me of watching AWA (after that final wave of the Rockers and Henning jumped ship) in the late 80s at 10am on UHF and then flipping over to the NBC affiliate for Superstars.

This isn't a rip on AEW post but more of a curiosity how anyone would argue that it is in the same orbit as WWE. Tony is the problem and unfortunately he's burned the bridges with those who could help him be respectable. Siding with the Bucks & Perry over Cody and Punk has now played out and it's obvious it's his brain dead version of how Verne dealt with Hogan. Storm reminds me of when Wendy Richter moved down to AWA in is dying days.

Edit: Oh FFS...Harley Cameron doing a fricking puppet of Sasha? Is Tony's target audience 8 year olds now?

Lame, tired of the Samoans
Worst take of the night. They have had a sizable impact on every post-WW2 generation of wrestling. The lineage helps to. I'm in my late 40s and watching Jacob gives me flashbacks of Umaga, Sika, and Afa. The Tongas are similar to the Islanders.

It's hard to compare the Rock to anyone BUT this is a drastically different wrestling world if he never existed. He has pulled it into the main stream entertainment world. He may not be as helpful now but he's earned the right to be involved whenever he wants to be.

Triple H got a fricking golden pen.
I am really looking forward to Mania weekend after hearing him talk about the emotions of the HOF announcement. I think he's got a damn good blueprint from Paul's speech last year. He's got a ton of choices for his presenter. Shawn seems obvious. So does Steph. He has always been about his NXT B&G kids.... could he ask one of them to do it? Seth or Roman or Becky would fit that bill.

It doesn't sound like he's looking forward to having a night about himself right in the middle of the busiest week of the year. One thing that is guaranteed is him going on last. They're in the Pacific time zone so even if it runs late it'll be over by 10 local time.

That crowd was lit tonight.. best PLE crowd I’ve seen in years.
If you look at where it's located, you can easily drive on interstate to Indy from any of the old midwest/southern territories. There's nonstop flights from most of the country as well. With Mania this year being in a pricy city I think a lot of people decided to make tonight their annual trip. They screwed up putting it in Vegas and the type of crowd they'll draw well have to be augmented with pipes in crowd noise.

That footage of the '88 inaugural Rumble makes me want to watch it. Just like my favorite SS match (10 team Survivor tag match when Fuji turned on Demolition).

AEW is basically done. Not enough stars and the product is pretty poor… if Mickey was smart he would get out now. Not sure if trips would take him back, but any storyline with him would be juicy….

I think they'd take nearly everyone back s long as they hadn't completely burned that bridge. Ambrose would likely be brought in for a Shield 3-way but I highly doubt they'd put a title in him. Sasha is done. Burnt that bridge and frankly has ruined herself in AEW. I don't see them taking on older guys like MVP & Co either. I think Swerve is one guy who has improved himself most in AEW and would be welcomed back with open arms.

The top AEW guys would come over to either be treated as WCW guys were or I think there's a few who would fit the Booker T mold (Darby/Olivier/Britt). Osprey took a flamethrower to his chances of ever being in that latter group.

It's fun to think about all of that but AEW isn't going anywhere now that Tony has successfully conned WBD out of millions.

Kahn has way more money than sense. I wonder how MJF would work in the WWE??? He is great on the mic and has had some epic matches. A classic heel….
